Fulfillment software uptime in 2026: Printful, ShipHero, ShipMonk

Over the last 90 days, the three fulfillment platforms StatusBird monitors were the quietest part of the e-commerce stack: Printful and ShipHero recorded 100% uptime with zero major or critical incidents, and ShipMonk recorded 99.99% with one incident lasting 12 minutes on June 18, 2026. If your fulfillment software has been fine and your orders still stalled, the cause was almost certainly somewhere else in the chain.

How did fulfillment platforms perform over the last 90 days?

There is no meaningful gap between first and third here. A single 12-minute incident spread across a 90-day window is closer to a blip than a pattern, and it is the only fulfillment downtime we recorded in the entire quarter. All three services carry an A+ grade.

The practical reading: if you are choosing between Printful, ShipHero, and ShipMonk, recent uptime is not a tiebreaker. Pick on warehouse locations, pricing, SKU handling, and how the app writes tracking numbers back to your store. None of those three gave stores a reason to switch on reliability grounds this quarter.

Does a 12-minute fulfillment outage actually cost anything?

Usually less than the same 12 minutes in checkout, because fulfillment work is queued rather than live. A shopper does not abandon a cart because your 3PL's dashboard returned an error at 2pm. Your warehouse team loses pick time, label generation stalls, and orders created during the window sit until the queue drains.

The risk is in the reconciliation afterwards, not in the outage itself. Orders that failed to push during a fulfillment outage often do not retry automatically, and they will not appear in any error report your staff reads. After any fulfillment incident, do three specific things:

  1. Filter your Shopify admin to Orders, then Fulfillment status: Unfulfilled, sorted oldest first, and look for anything created in the outage window that is still sitting there.
  2. Compare your 3PL's order count for that day against your store's paid order count for the same day. A mismatch is a sync gap, not a reporting quirk.
  3. Check whether tracking numbers wrote back. Orders can show as fulfilled in the 3PL and unfulfilled in your store, which means the customer never got a shipping confirmation email.

Where does fulfillment risk actually come from?

An order reaches a box through a chain, and the fulfillment platform is only one link. Over the same 90 days, the links on either side of it were noticeably less stable.

Shippo alone accounted for 1,332 minutes of downtime across nine separate incidents, more than 22 hours, with a last incident on August 13, 2026. That is over a hundred times the fulfillment category's combined total. ShipStation had only one incident, but it ran 166 minutes, the longest single shipping-side outage in the window.

Carrier systems were clean. UPS, USPS, FedEx, and DHL eCommerce all recorded 100% uptime with zero major or critical incidents, as did AfterShip on the tracking side. So when a store could not get a label this quarter, the carrier was rarely the reason. The label software in the middle was.

Why incident frequency matters more than the uptime number

Shippo's nine incidents and ShipMonk's one tell you more than their uptime percentages do. Nine separate interruptions averaging 148 minutes each means a warehouse shift has a realistic chance of hitting one in any given week, and each one requires someone to notice, pause, and then reprocess a backlog. One 12-minute interruption in three months requires nothing at all.

Average incident length is the second number to read. Compare ShipStation's 166-minute average against Deliverr's 62 minutes: an outage you can wait out during a lunch break is a different operational problem from one that eats an entire afternoon of picking. A store shipping several hundred orders a day should have a written cutoff, for example "if labels are still failing after 45 minutes, we generate labels directly in the carrier's own web portal and reconcile tracking numbers by CSV import that evening."

How does this compare to the rest of the stack?

August 2026 recorded 16 major or critical incidents across 9 affected services and 40.4 hours of combined downtime, with Plaid the most affected. July recorded 14 incidents and 22.1 hours, with Shippo the most affected. April was the worst month in the index, with 20 incidents, 122.1 hours of combined downtime, and 11 services affected. Across all of those months, no fulfillment platform appeared as the most affected service. The monthly breakdowns are in the outage index.

That is a useful planning fact heading into peak season. Fulfillment software has not been the weak link, so spend your contingency planning on the label layer and the order source instead. Concretely: confirm you can generate labels in at least one carrier portal without your primary label tool, keep a saved CSV export template that maps your store's order fields to your 3PL's import format, and make sure one named person on the warehouse side receives outage alerts rather than relying on someone spotting a dashboard error.

What should you monitor going into peak season?

Monitor the whole chain, not just the 3PL. At minimum, watch your store platform, your label or OMS tool, your 3PL, and your tracking provider, because a failure in any one of them looks identical from the warehouse floor: orders stop arriving. Live status for each is on its status page, for example ShipMonk, Shippo, and ShipStation.

Also record which incidents hit you and for how long.
